Obituary

John E. Martin, 88 of rural Jeromesville passed away peacefully on August 13,

2018 surrounded by loved ones after a valiant battle with Parkinson's.  He was

born March 15, 1930 in Morgan County, Indiana to Dewey and Mary Ann

(Miller) Martin.  He was a resident of Ashland County most of his life.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1952-1954.  On July 8, 1954 he was married to Barbara

(Baucher) Martin, she survives.  He was a devoted husband, beloved and proud father to Jo Ellen

Clever and Jill Hiller of Ashland and Jane Garrison of West Salem.  Loving  father-in-law to Tim

Clever, Richard Hiller and Brad Garrison.  Grandfather to Jason (Elisa) Clever of Columbus, John

(Andrea) Clever of Hillard, Holly (Michael) Tennant of Pittsburgh, PA, Kristin (Dennis) Fisher of

Ripley, W.Va., Adam (Joni) Hiller of Jeromesville, Shannon and Spencer Garrison of West Salem, six

great grandchildren, a sister, Rebecca Mosher of Lakeville and several nieces and nephews.  John

was a man of faith, incredible strength, kindness, warmth and wisdom.  His keen sense of humor will

be greatly be missed.  He retired in 1995 after many years with Quaker State Oil.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur Martin.

There will be no visitation.  Family graveside burial of the cremains will be held at a later date.
