Jeffrey Dean Welch, 72 of Ashland passed away Sunday January 28, 2024 at Ohio Health Mansfield

Hospital with his daughter and son-in-law by his side, after a long time battle with heart disease. He

was born October 9, 1951 in Mansfield the son of the late Richard (Dick) and Betty Ann (Gregory)

Welch. He was a 1970 graduate of Ashland High School and worked for A.L. Garbers Co., Western

Southern Life Insurance, before retiring from Abbott Labs/Hospira. He played fastpitch softball for

many years, for a number of teams around the area, and was a member of the Ashland Elks, Harry

Higgens Post 88 of the American Legion and the NRA. Jeff was an avid sports fan and enjoyed

watching his 3 granddaughters play the sports they love.

He is survived by his daughter, Mandy (Andy) Morgan, three granddaughters, Taylor, Ally and

Brooklyn Morgan, a brother, Mike (Regina) Welch, a sister, Linda (Dave) Tacy, two nieces, Jennifer

Hunt and Elizabeth Chmar and two nephews, Richard Welch and David Tacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be Thursday February 1, 2024 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville from 4-6 pm.
