Obituary

Janet Louise Fox, age 93, of Marion, Indiana went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 13, 2016.  She was sleeping peacefully at Sterling House when she passed away.  Janet was full of the joy of life.  She greeted everyone with a smile up to the end.  She shared her hopeful attitude and enthusiasm with everyone in her life.  She was always adventurous and took time to enjoy the little things.  She was happily married to Stanley Fox for 56 years.  They read the Bible together each night until he died on Sept 2, 2012.

Janet was born to Lester Vernon King and Bessie Humphrey King in St. James Maryland in 1922.  She moved around Indiana and Ohio with her father, who was a Brethren minister.  She graduated from Ashland College with a degree in elementary education and later got a Masters Degree in Education at The Ohio State University.  After graduating from Ashland, she taught and lead several clubs for children.  One of the highlights of her life was teaching at Hillcrest, a mission school in Jos, Nigeria, for 2 years.  She showed slides and artifacts of her experience hundreds of times for years to come.  She and Stan courted by mail when she was in Africa and married soon after her return.  When her three children were in school, she returned to teaching with Big Walnut Public Schools.  She was loved by a generation of students and more than a few of their children.  She and Stan were deeply involved in the Grace Brethren Church of Worthington, Ohio.  For many years she lead the girls ministry.  She also served on the mission committee.  She had a deep interest in missionary work and continued reading books about missions throughout her life.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Bea Bischof and Bernie Dersch, and her children and their spouses, Philip (Cheri) Fox, Steve (Debbie) Fox and Beth (John) Foss; and grandchildren Seth (Mandy) Foss, Autumn Fox, Joshua (Sarah) Foss, Daniel Fox, Bethany Fox, Jonathan Fox, Alyssa Foss, Nina Fox, Jennifer Fox, Christopher Foss, Benjamin Fox and Samantha Fox; and great grandchildren, Emily Foss and Isaiah Foss.

She will be joining her older sister, Mary Pensel, and twin sister, Jane Byler in heaven.

Viewing will be held Sunday afternoon, January 17th at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville, Ohio at 2:00PM with the service immediately following at 3:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grace Brethren World Missions or the Salvation Army.
