Harold James (Baldy) Thewlis, 83 formerly of Ashland died

WednesdayFebruary 27, 2013 in Statesville, NC.  He was born

July 22, 1929 in Beckley, West Virginia the son of Fred and

Ethel McElroy Thewlis.  He was a truck driver and a U.S. Army

Veteran of the Korean Conflict.  Harold was an early member of the N.F.O.

He is survived by six children, Jim (Vicky) Thewlis of Statesville, NC,

Deborah Matz of Red Haw, Dion Hampton of Hanahan, SC,

Bev (Jim) Reed of Congress, John Thewlis of Statesville, NC

and Roy (Karol) Thewlis of Jeromesville, 15 grandchildren,

21 great grandchildren, and four brothers, Robert (Catherine)

Thewlis of Morgantown, West Virginia, Fred (Barb) Thewlis of

Medina, Kenneth (Nila) Thewlis of Perrysville and David (Kris)

Thewlis of Grafton.  He was preceded in death by his parents,

a daughter, Doloris Thewlis, a brother, Charles Sturgis and two sisters,

Freda Thewlis and Betty Monk.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday March 2, 2013 at Fickes

Funeral Home in Jeromesville with Pastor Richard Thewlis

officiating.  Burial will be in Southview Cemetery at Sullivan.

Friends may call Friday March 1, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the

funeral home.
