Glenna Amanda Bate, 91 of Ashland died Monday December 12, 2011
at Brethren Care. She was born December 9, 1920 in Akron the daughter
of Paul Preston and Rita Summerton Wiltrout. She lost her mother
at the age of 5 and her father when she was a senior in highschool.
She graduated from Polk H.S. and had lettered in basketball. Glenna
worked many jobs to keep the family together, retiring from Faultless Rubber,
and had sold Avon for 42 years.
Glenna went to and enjoyed bowling tournaments,
was an avid Bingo player and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Glenna married William R. Wood, who preceded her in death and had
two children who survive, Rita (Daniel) Wierbiki of Ashland and Linda
North of Ashland. She then married, Harry Cose Bate, who preceded
her in death and had two children who survive, Calvin Bate and his
companion, Cheryl Cleland of Ashland and Pam (Paul) Karper of Ashland.
In addition to her children, she is surived by 8 grandchildren, 15
great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by four
siblings MarieOxender, Raymond Wiltrout, Mildred Puster and
Paul Burley.
Services will be 10:30 AM Friday December 16, 2011 at Fickes
Funeral Home in Jeromesville with Pastor Sanford Mitchell
officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Co. Memorial Park.
Friends may call Thursday December 15, 2011 from 6-8 pm
at the funeral home.
