Obituary

Eula Irene (nee Dudte) Winger Newton, went to her heavenly home May 21, 2014 at

Hospice of North Central Ohio.  She was born January 3, 1926 in Jeromesville, Ohio.

Eula was the first born of Floyd and Nellie (nee Myers) Dudte.  She lived her entire life

in Ashland County.  In 1942 Eula married Ivan L. Winger and partnered with him on the

farm until his death on February 2, 1976.  She was employed at Ashland Rubber Co. and

retired from National Latex after many years as a type setter in the balloon printing

department.  Eula was very active with her husband, Robert L. Newton, at Maranatha

Baptist Church, teaching kindergarten children, leading many to the Lord.  She assisted

Robert, conducting weekly Bible study for 10 years at Heartland Home with devotions

and songs.  She was a long time choir member and helped in children's church.  She and

Robert were married on September 22, 1984 and both were very faithful servants of the

Lord for 29 years.  In addition to her love of children, Eula had a passion for flowers,

gardening and cooking.  Her swiss steak, fried potatoes, 7 layer salad, mashed potatoes

and cresent rolls will be remembered by many.

Eula was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ivan, 2nd husband, Gaylord

Akins, her grandson, Larry D. Winger and great granddaughter, Nichole Kitchen.  She

was also preceded by her sister, Donna Wilson Crawford, her brother Kenneth and his wife,

Mildred Swaisgood Dudte, in addition to brothers, Carl, John and Norman Dudte.  Eula

was also preceded by her step-father, Daryle Reeves and step-brother, Ralph Reeves.  She

was also preceded by her brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Mary Winger, Ida and John

Stout, Isabel and Lester Barber, Cyrene and Russell Mowery, Mildred and Homer Ritter,

Dorothy and Raymond Hill, Florence and Lawerance Pinski and infant sister-in-law, Betty

Winger, plus a niece, Louise Winger Burton and nephew, LeRoy Barber.  She had been

the last surviving Aunt on both sides of her family.

Eula is survived by her husband, Robert L. Newton, two sons, David (Louise) Winger of

Ashland and Larry (Sally) Winger of Payson, Utah.  She was the grandmother of 13

grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 16 step-great grandchildren,

10 great great grandchildren, 7 step great great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and

nephews.  She is also survived by her brother, Michael (Joan) Dudte, step-sister, Barbara

(Bill) Able, sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Dudte and Gloria Dudte Cook.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday May 24, 2014 at Maranatha Baptist Church in Hayesville

with Pastor Todd Grover officiating.  Interment will be at Ashland Co. Memorial Park.

Friends may call Friday May 23, 2014 from 6-9 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville

or one hour prior to the service at the church.
