Dwight (Ike) Thomas Atterholt, 79 of Wooster died Sunday
October 7, 2012 at Samaritan Regional Health System where
he had been a patient since last Tuesday with pneumonia.
He was born June 25, 1933 in Ashland the son of Edgar Leo
and Golda Ardana Brubaker Atterholt. He grew up in the
Mohicanville area and graduated from the Jeromesville High School
class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for 1 year (1951)
and then 2 years of active duty in the Mediterranean on the U.S.S.
Randolph aircraft carrier during the Korean Conflict.
Dwight worked for General Motors at the Mansfield/Ontario plant
for 36 ½ years in skilled trades as a tool and die maker, retiring
in 1992. Dwight loved to be outdoors, whether it was cutting
wood, mowing grass or just "potting around" as he called it.
He enjoyed playing games and cards with family and friends,
doing puzzle books, and traveling with his wife Kathy.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Amstutz Paullin Atterholt,
whom he married May 12, 1976, three daughters, Debra (Chris) Arnold
of Olivesburg, Cindy Dove of Ashland, Lori (Bob) Haley of Ashland,
a son, Jeff (Barb) Atterholt of Ashland, a step-daughter, Vicki Sue
Paullin of Jeromesville, 8 grandchildren, Timothy (Kelsy) and
Megan Arnold, Jillian and Trevor Haley, Philip and Steven Keller,
Anna Marie Goodwill, and Dustin Atterholt, 2 step-granddaughters,
Sheyanna Paullin and Kaley Bess, and 4 great granddaughters,
Hadley Marie Keller, Isabella and Alexis Keller and Czarina Keller,
two brothers, Stanton (Evelyn) Atterholt of Loudonville and
Paul (Joy) Atterholt of Conesville and a sister, Lillian Raubenolt of Jeromesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clayton Atterholt,
and 2 daughters, Linda Lee Atterholt and Kelly Renee Keller.
A Celebration of Life service will be 4:30 PM October 11, 2012 at Mohicanville
Community Church with Pastor Mike Nicholson officiating.
Calling hours will be Wednesday October 10, 2012 from 5-8 pm
at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
