Obituary

Donald E. Ritchie, 90 of Ashland passed away Monday November 3, 2025 at UH


Samaritan Medical Center. He was born on June 22, 1935 the son of John and


Doris Gregg Ritchie, in the house he currently resides. Don was a U.S. Army


Veteran and was a salesman/foreman for Wagner Hardware.


He held several offices in the Hayesville and Warsaw Lions Clubs and danced in the


Hayesville Follies and Warsaw show. Don enjoyed driving to Amish Country and other


places in Ohio with family and friends. He was always the driver and the human GPS.


After retirement, he drove veterans to their appointments for over 10 years. He was also a member of


the Hayesville Methodist Church.


Don is survived by his wife, Miriam Iceman Ritchie, whom he met at Archway, and were married on


November 25, 1955, three daughters, Jean Marie (Don)Vipperman, Marla Sue (Nick Sarchet) Garrison


and Judy Lynn Ritchie, 2 grandchildren, Matthew (Becca) Vipperman and Elizabeth (Patrick)


Gallagher, four great grandchildren, Gavin, Natalie, Grant and Bryce Vipperman, a sister, Mary Huff


and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


Services will be 12:00 PM on Friday November 7, 2025 at Hayesville Methodist Church with Pastor


John Rozewicz officiating. Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery.


Friends may call from 10:00am -12:00 pm before the service at the church.


The family would like to thank the staff at Kingston and UH Samaritan Medical Center for taking good


care of their loved one.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Hayesville Fire Department, the Hayesville Methodist


Church or the Hayesville Lions Club.


Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
