Cordelia Adelene "Addie" Dennis, 92 of rural Ashland passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016. She was born at her home in Butler, Ohio to Clarence E. and Florence L. (Garber) Remy on August 24, 1924. Addie graduated from Butler High School in 1942. After graduation she worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. She also worked at Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company. Addie met the love of her life (her "honey"), Paul William Dennis at a dance at Norris Hall in rural Butler, Ohio and were married September 12, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church in Loudonville, Ohio. Paul & Addie operated a grain and dairy farm spending countless hours milking and working on the farm. Addie had a huge vegetable and flower garden and worked tirelessly to make sure there were no weeds in her garden and she had the most beautiful flowers. Addie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Addie was a member of the Hayesville United Methodist Church and was the mission chairman for many years in addition to being a Brownie and 4-H leader. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, reading, gardening and sewing.
Addie was preceded in death by her parents; son – Roger Paul Dennis; brother – Clarence Edward Remy, Jr.; sister – Mollie Ruth Rader; grandson – Clay Carl Bicker. Addie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Paul William Dennis of Ashland; 3 daughters – Marcia (Robert) Wagoner of Johnstown, Karen (Carl) Bicker of Jeromesville, and Amy (James) Pickering of Ashland; 9 grandchildren – Stacy Wagoner, Matthew Wagoner, Lisa Bicker, Paul (Melissa) Bicker, Nolan Bicker, Bryan Pickering, Ashley Pickering, Julie Pickering, Eric Pickering; 5 great grandchildren – William Wagoner, Joslyn, Gage & Aubrey Bicker, and Braylen Vogler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1st, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville, Ohio with Pastor Paula Archdeacon officiating. Family and friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be at Hayesville Vermillion Cemetery. Fickes Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Addie.
