Clarence Albert Schwartzwalder, 100 of
Jeromesville passed away peacefully
Wednesday evening December 5th, 2018
after a one year period of declining health.
Clarence was born April 9, 1918 to George and
Clara (Hootman) Schwartzwalder. On May 5, 1951 he married
Lucille Bricker who preceded him in death on December 29, 2011.
The couple raised 4 children on the family farm. Mary Lou (Sam) Minten of Georgia, Darly
Schwartzwalder of Akron, Barbara (Bob) Harbaugh of Jeromesville and David Schwartzwalder of
Jeromesville.
Clarence served his country in the Army during World War II for which he was awarded a purple heart
for being wounded by sniper fire.
Though Clarence worked briefly in a foundry after his military service, he was a farmer most of his
life. He still lived on the family farm and cut wood until well past his 99th birthday.
Surviving Clarence in addition to his children, are 20 grandchildren, over 50 great grandchildren, 2
great great grandchildren and 1 sister-in-law, Wynona Schwartzwalder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara Schwartzwalder, an infant daughter, Nancy
Jane Schwartzwalder, a great grandson, Luke Minton, siblings, May (Raymond) Dolby, Relda (Gene)
Shopbell, Ada (Bob) Kaufmann, Ward Schwartzwalder, Edna (Harold) Bricker, Hugh Schwartzwalder,
Nellie (Lewis) DeLancy and Mildred (Paul) Sovine.
Clarence's memory will forever be alive in the hearts of his family and the many people who cherished
him.
Services will be 11:00 AM Monday December 10, 2018 at Ashland Worship Center/Church of God in
Ashland with Pastor Ted Mason officiating. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park.
Friends may call Sunday December 9, 2018 from 2-5 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
