Obituary

Carl Eugene Jones, 97 formerly of Jeromesville, died Thursday September 8, 2016 at The Oaks at Shady Lawn in Dalton.  He was born April 2, 1919 in Ashland Co. the son of Harley Edgar and Gladys Elizabeth Cross Jones.
He was part of the United Methodist Church of Jeromesville; Carl was drafted into the United States Army November 1942 and was honorably discharged on March 8th, 1946. He served with the Heavy Automotive Company in /South Pacific at Ie Shima Island and Okinawa Island. He was part of the 77th Division. He received as decorations: American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War 11 Victory Medal. He was a Life member of the American Legion Unit 749, and Veteran of Foreign Wars; World War II; Perrysville Post 8586.
He is survived by a son, William L. (Dixie) Jones of Dalton, a daughter, Ruth Ann (Tom) Robinson of Ann Arbor,MI, 4 grandchildren, Doug (Rachel) Jones, Brad (Becky) Jones, Sarah (Matt) Thiry and Molly Robinson, and 8 great grandchildren, Callie Jones, Collin Jones, Emma Jones, Caleb Jones, Luke Jones, Andrew Jones, Melanie Thiry and Alder Thiry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy Swinehart Jones on June 2, 1995, three brothers, Roger Jones, Harold Jones, and Clifford Jones.
Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday September 13, 2016 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with Pastor Tom Robinson officiating.  Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday September 12, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at The Oaks at Shady Lawn and at Life Care Hospice who loved Carl.
