Obituary

Barbara Ann (Koenig) Fair, 90, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. She was born on November 8, 1935, in Holmesville, Ohio, to the late Milton and Virginia Koenig. On December 18, 1955, she married the love of her life, Roger E. Fair, beginning a marriage that was filled with love and partnership until his passing on February 24, 2012.


Barbara lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She was known for her quick wit, fashionable style, and loving heart. She treasured time spent with family and friends and enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved traveling, playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, and cheering on her beloved Cleveland Indians. Her warmth, sense of humor, and unmistakable personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.


Barbara dedicated many years of her career to banking at Genoa Savings & Loan, where she enjoyed serving her community and building lasting relationships with customers and coworkers alike. She was also a faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Genoa, where she enjoyed the fellowship of her church family.


Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger E. Fair; her parents, Milton and Virginia Koenig; and her infant son. She is lovingly survived by her children, Deb Fair, Greg Fair, and Janice Ray (Darrell Ray); her cherished grandchildren, Taylor Fair, Alissa Ray, and Emma Ray; her step-grandson, Tony Ray; and his daughters, Fionna and Effie; along with extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.


Family and friends are invited to celebrate Barbara's life on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Reedsburg Cemetery. A memorial service and luncheon will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Genoa, Ohio.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ in Genoa or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Barbara's memory.
