Pat Richey of rural Ashland passed away peacefully on April 30, 2019, at LifeCare Hospice of Wooster, following a short battle with brain cancer. Pat was born to the late Franklin ‘Bud’ Conway and Helen (nee Cole) Conway on October 2, 1939, in Parma, Ohio, the middle of three daughters.

Also known as Patsy, she graduated from Ashland High School in 1957, attended Ashland College, and married R. Dale Richey on June 21, 1958, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, until his passing in February 2011.

She worked at The Dairy Bar in Ashland during her high school years. She embarked on her lifelong banking career with Ashland Bank & Savings, starting as a teller and later transferring into the loan department. She remained with the bank as it transitioned to Bank One and then Chase Bank, from which she retired.

Pat was involved as a 4-H advisor for years as her daughters grew up going through the program. She assisted the financial department during the annual Ashland County Fair for 25+ years, was a member of the Ashland County Homemakers Council, the “No-Hat” Women’s Club, was a previous Ashland County Garden Club member and had belonged to First United Methodist Church in Ashland. Pat was an avid quilt maker, reader, vegetable and flower gardener, and enjoyed painting, making baskets and all kinds of crafts and sewing projects. She participated in the donation quilt making for the Ashland County Senior Center.

Pat and Dale have two loving daughters, Pam (Randy) Burson of rural Perrysville, and Cathy (Woody) Craig of rural Crestline. Pat had three grandsons, Joshua, Tucker, and Wesley, and one granddaughter, Lindsay. She also had one great-grandson, one yet-to-be-born great-granddaughter, two step-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. Her sister, Rose Sage, of Bethesda, MD, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Sandy Richey, of Ashland, numerous nieces and nephews, and her canine companion, Peanut, survive her. Her parents, her husband, Dale (2011), father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Vivian Richey, her brother-in-law, Michael Sage (2004), oldest sister, Louise Joy Conway (2016), and one grandson, Wesley Burson (2018), preceded her in death.

Services will be 5:00 PM Friday May 3, 2019 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with Pastor Howdie Burnett officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
A private family burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691, in her memory.

Your family is my thoughts and prayers. Going to miss chatting with Pat at her mailbox, seeing her wave as I would drive by and delivering Christmas cookies to her. She and Peanut always made me smile. Memories are the bridge that enable us to visit those we miss whenever we want. Cherish the visits.

Dear Pam and Kathy,

So sorry to hear of your moms death. For so many years I thought of her and your dad. We spent so much time together in our earlier years and I cherish those times. I did not even know until much later that you had lost your dad. Please know that I have thought of you all often and pray that you girls have peace. I so cherish the letter that Pam wrote when we lost Brian and read it often. You are wonderful girls. Love to you all, Gail92
