Chick McCoy, 72, of Ashland, passed away Monday, April 29,

2019 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster. She was born August

11, 1946 in Ashland County, the daughter of Dory and Ginny

Banks and was a 1964 graduate of Hayesville High School.

Chick worked at Ashland University and also was the Executive Assistant to the CEO and President of

Samaritan Regional Health System for 20 years.

She was a member of Saint Michael Lutheran Church in Mifflin and loved her grandchildren,

tending her many flower gardens, cooking, and keeping the house spotlessly.

Chick was giving and loving and the fixer of all things for us. She had the gift of hospitality and

we shall all lose weight now that she's no longer here to feed us. She is missed greatly by all, including

her collie, Jake.

She is survived by her husband, Michael McCoy, to whom she was married February 19, 1965,

three sons, Michael (Chrystal) McCoy of Bloomville, Jeff (Kami) McCoy and Keith McCoy

of Hayesville, seven grand children, Chris, Kaitlyn, Tori, Nick, Trevor, Megan and Damon,

two brothers, Jim (Cheryl) Banks of Copley and Dave (Nancy) of Erie, Pennsylvania, and a sister,

Kathy (Greg) McFarlin of Ashland.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family service will be held at a future time.

Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.

It is with such a heavy heart, that I express my deepest condolence to you all...I worked with Chick @ Samaritan for many years and after she retired, we would have 'last minute' lunch dates, that would go on longer than need be. :) She was such a huge supporter of all my fundraising endeavors for my organizations, but I knew I could always count on her. I will forever remember her smile and her tender & caring demeanor. Hold tight to all the wonderful memories that I'm sure each of you have to get you thru the dark days ahead. Thoughts & prayers to the family. Fly high my friend and be an guardian angel to all of us.

My condolences to the McCoy family. I met Chick when I became employed in the Finance Department at Samaritan Regional Health System. She was always smiling and had a heart of gold. What a blessing it was to have known her. Our loss is God's gain. You will forever be in our hearts.

We are heart broken to hear of the passing of a very caring beautiful soul. The McCoy family were our neighbors for many years. Chick and I worked well together in getting our children to or from school in the Seventies. She was always ready to lend a hand and pick up Sherry, if she was ill at school and I had no car to get her. Also, if she needed something for Mikey, I was ready to lend a hand. We have nothing but wonderful memories of our dear neighbors! Michael, may the Lord surround you and your precious sons, Mike, Jeff, and Keith during this difficult time. Please know that my family is praying for comfort and strength for your family.
With loving thoughts, Vivian and Kathy Hardman and Sherry Wise.

For all my life, Chick McCoy has been my big sister, my mom after our mom died when I was 25 years old, and my best friend always. She modeled exceptional grace, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, extraordinary dignity and strength throughout her life and in this last journey we travelled with her. She taught me how to love, be a gift giver, cook, to find the best exotic goodies Aldi had to offer, make the house smell good and look warm and inviting with potpourri and candle lights, which birds like which foods, which flowers like light or shade, and the secret to making a good crockpot beef roast was to make sure it was covered with water as it cooked all day! How I love and miss you! You are one of a kind and God has blessed me by your presence in my life. I know you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, so I have great peace and joy for you that your pain and suffering is now gone and I will see you waiting on the other side when it's my turn to fall at the feet of Jesus. Until then... until we meet again. Love. Kath

Mike, Jim, Dave, and Kathy and all your families, I am so sorry for your loss.
I always looked up to Chick as we were growing up, but when we worked together at Samaritan, I got to know her as a friend. She was generous, smart and always wanted the best for everyone! I loved the many lunches and coffee breaks (tea for her, of course) we were able to share. I know we will be reunited one day in heaven.
My prayers go out for all of you as you adjust to your lives here without her. 💔🙏🏻
