Unie and family, I am so sorry for your loss of this entertaining, interesting man. I have never known anyone quite like him. He couldn’t spell worth a darn but I sat in his class one time and watched how he engaged students without the use of Fancy powerpoints, or even handouts. He was truly gifted in relationships. I know many times we sat in student conferences with parents who had Don for a teacher. He was so respected and loved by all who worked with him! It was my honor to have worked with him!

Dear Kettering Family: I am so very sorry to learn of Don's passing. I had him in the 6th grade and he was one of my all-time favorite teachers! I remember the first day I wore glasses to school. As kids do, they started making fun of me. Mr. Kettering put a stop to that immediately. He said that he was proud of me for getting glasses so I wouldn't fall behind in my schoolwork. My favorite thing in his class was the Friday afternoon Monopoly games. I am praying that the sympathy of those who loved him and love you will comfort you in the days ahead. May the God of peace wrap His loving arms around you always.

So sorry to hear of his passing. He was an amazing teacher who I had the privilege of knowing while I was in 6th grade at Dowds. I will always remember his deep chuckle and funny sense of humor. Not many teachers leave an impact in students lives, but I can guarantee he is one that many would agree did. Your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

To Mr. Kettering's family--so sorry for your loss. Don was my 7th grade social studies teacher, and one of my favorite teachers in all my years of schooling; I know many other students share that opinion. I am a high school English teacher now, and I try to emulate Mr. Kettering's easy rapport and enthusiastic storytelling in my own classroom. I'm grateful for his influence, both professional and personal.

To the Kettering family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at this time of loss. I had so much respect for Mr. Kettering. He was a man with so much knowledge in so many different fields including the farming fields. He was always there when I had any questions about anything about farming. I always enjoy working on his equipment, didn’t always know what I was getting into. That was the best part. I will truly miss him very much and all the talks that we had. He had such a big heart. So sorry for your loss.

Prayers The Rebmans.
