John L. Conner, 79, of Jeromesville passed away suddenly Wednesday, April 26, 2017. He was born on December 6, 1937 in Big Prairie, Ohio, to Ralph and Ella Mae (Gruver) Conner and was a 1955 graduate of Big Prairie-Lakeville High School. He also attended Ashland College. He worked for 20+ years for Hills Supply of Canal Fulton selling, installing and maintaining milking parlors and was proud to have served for several years in the U.S. Air Force. He loved being with his grandchildren and studying and researching the Bible and the Civil War. He enjoyed mission work, in particular his 17 years with Christian Appalachian Project. He also loved animals, especially the many dogs and cats he cared for over the years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Karen (Mumper) Conner; his daughters, Lesley Conner of Columbus and Jenny (Brett) Southworth of Upper Arlington; his grandchildren, Grant and Ella Southworth; his sister, Nancy (Jack) Fortune; brother, Roger (Betty) Conner; sister-in-law, Reva Jane Conner; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his uncle, Louis Gruver, and aunts, Marcella Gruver and Marguerite Eby; and his brothers, Deward and Charles Conner. John was a faithful servant of the Lord; a devoted husband and father; and a loyal friend, wise spiritual adviser and good neighbor to many. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service to honor his life is planned for a later date.
